Arsenal have ‘concrete and ominous’ interest in ‘top target’ as £72m flop’s exit offers ‘opportunity’

Arsenal target Neto

David Ornstein is reporting that Arsenal have identified Wolves star Pedro Neto as their ‘top target’ as they look to sign a new winger.

Arsenal have already done some great business this summer, with Gabriel Jesus and Oleksandr Zinchenko standing out.

William Saliba’s long-awaited return to the Gunners has also had an impact as the Frenchman has hit the ground running this term (do do do do do do do do, do do do do do do do).

Even though the club has spent £118m on new signings already, Arsenal do not appear to be stopping there.

They are still being linked with Leicester City midfielder Youri Tielemans, who started their defeat to Southampton on Saturday on the bench.

“Especially the situation that he found himself in with (Raul) Jimenez being injured and Diogo Jota now playing for the other side tonight.

“It’s not easy to have everything on your shoulders. What I like is he’s not scared to beat people on the outside. I like it, he can cross with his right, finish with his left.

“He’s always looking to have a go and attack the defender – always on the front foot.

“It’s not easy to do this at such a young age, in a team where you’re not often in possession and dominating games. I think he’s performed extremely well.”

Neto’s progress last season was hampered by a serious knee injury but he has since returned to full fitness.

Ornstein has added that talks between Arsenal and Wolves have been ongoing ‘for more than a month’.

Arsenal’s interest in the winger is ‘concrete and ominous’ but Wolves ‘do not want to sell’ their prized asset. He is still under contract until 2027 so he will likely attract a large fee.

This makes a deal for him difficult as it is ‘unlikely’ that Arsenal will be able to ‘spend…
