Soccer Falls in Sunday Contest Against Ohio State, 2-1

COLUMBIA, Mo. – University of Missouri soccer lost a close contest at home inside Audrey J. Walton Soccer Stadium, 2-1, against Ohio State Sunday, Aug. 21. 

The Tigers (1-1) battled through continued Ohio State pressure, but were outshot 13-11. The sole Mizzou goal came off the head of junior captain Grace Pettet in the 70th minute. The goal tied the contest as Missouri attempted to keep the pressure on. A late goal by the Buckeyes in the 80th minute sealed the game however, as the Tigers were unable to even the score. 

Redshirt freshman Bella Hollenbach made seven saves over the 90 minutes in her second consecutive start. 

TOP TIGERS

Pettet earned her first career by way of a header into the back of the net, and played all 90 minutes. Sophomore Leah Selm’s assist was also her first of the year.  

NOTES

Freshman Bella Carillo made her first start and collegiate debut. 

Sophomore Milena Fischer made her season debut after not playing the opener against SEMO, Aug. 18

Pettet scored her first career goal by header.
