8-Man Hailstorm Fall to Flamingos

SEVERANCE, Colo. – Northern Colorado Hailstorm FC (6W-9L-8D, 26 points) fell to Forward Madison FC (7W-5L-9D, 30 points) 3-1 at Severance High School. A pair of Jeremiah Streng goals for Madison sealed the deal in the second half.


The Hailstorm were the ones to get the game going when a penalty was called in the box against Madison’s captain Mitchell Osmond. Irvin Parra stepped up to the spot and scored his 10th goal of the season. The first Northern Colorado player to reach a double digit tally.

Forward Madison got themselves back in the match back just before the half hour mark. Andrew Wheeler-Omiunu sent a long ball for Derek Gebhard, who was able to make some moves in the Hailstorm box to give himself a chance. Burying it in at the far post and leveling the scoreline.

The first red card of the evening came shortly thereafter. Leo Folla was the recipient for a challenge in the 38th minute. Leaving the Hailstorm with 10 men the rest of the match.

Streng was able to put the Flamingos in front with a tap in from a yard out, just past the hour mark. He would add another in the 82nd minute, finding some space between the defenders of the Northern Colorado back line to receive a long ball from Matheus Cassini.

The night would end with two more red cards issued to the Hailstorm. Substitutes Trevor Amann and Rob Cornwall received these cards, leaving the Hailstorm to see the match out with eight men on the pitch. Just adding to a night to forget for Northern Colorado.

The Hailstorm is back in action on August 27 when they pay a visit to the Greenville Triumph SC. The match will kick off at 5 p.m. MDT, at the Legacy Early College in Greenville, South Carolina.
