Zaha inspires hosts to first victory of the season

Wilfried Zaha

Crystal Palace recovered from an early Ollie Watkins goal to register their first Premier League win of the season against Aston Villa.

Watkins put Villa ahead after just five minutes at Selhurst Park, finishing clinically after Leon Bailey’s clever flick from a Tyrone Mings long ball.

Wilfried Zaha responded almost instantly with a fine effort, having sprinted through from the halfway line.

The Ivorian put Palace in front in the second half from the rebound of his own penalty, which had been saved by Emiliano Martinez.

Jean-Philippe Mateta established a two-goal cushion for the hosts from close range after some excellent build-up play.
