‘Get your head down, do your job, what you’re paid for!’: Robbie Mustoe and Tim Howard SLAM Wesley Fofana for asking not to play for Leicester amid rumors linking him with a $93m move to Chelsea

  • Fofana had been rumored to be dropped in the leadup to this weekend’s match
  • The French defender could move to a Champions League club this summer
  • Mustoe & Howard say the player should do everything to make himself available

In spite of Wesley Fofana‘s desire to move on from the King Power Stadium, there are still games to be played and 11 days until the end of the summer transfer window.

Even still, the defender reportedly ‘wasn’t in the right frame of mind’ to be playing today according to manager Brendan Rodgers, after the manager hinted at Fofana’s absence in the runup to the match this weekend.

That drew ire from fans of the Foxes, and some of the media as they criticized him for not wanting to do the job he’s being paid to do.

NBC Sports commentators Robbie Mustoe and Tim Howard expressed their frustration at the French defender just before kickoff of Leicester’s match against Southampton.

‘In terms of behavior, I really don’t like it. He’s 21 years of age, he’s on the back of a season last year where he broke his leg, so he’s just coming back,’ Mustoe said on the air.

‘If the club’s are going to agree a fee, they’re going to agree a fee. If he’s asking not to play, that’s just not good. He signed a five-year deal in March.

‘Get your head down, do your job, what you’re paid for. If the deal is agreed, you’ll go… but I really dislike players saying they don’t want to play.’

Mustoe’s colleague Tim Howard echoed similar sentiments, saying he believes there’s a right way and a wrong way to go about your time at a club you won’t stay at forever.

‘When we first saw Wesley Fofana, we didn’t think he was going to be at Leicester that long, he was that good,’ the former American goalkeeper said.
