Golan Announces Grace Pettet as 2022 Soccer Captain


COLUMBIA, Mo. – University of Missouri soccer Head Coach, Stefanie Golan, and staff announced Thursday, Aug. 18 that junior Grace Pettet will serve as team captain for the 2022 season.

“Grace has grown a lot in the year that I have been with the program, both on the field and as a leader,” said Golan. “She does everything the right way with the right mentality, and she wants to win at a high level. Grace came in fit, technically sharp, competes in everything we do, and she has been super consistent. She has earned the right to wear the captain’s armband on the field for us, and we are excited about her continued growth.”

Pettet, who was recently named to the Southeastern Conference Soccer Preseason Watchlist for 2022, played in all 17 games for the Tigers in 2021 and made 16 starts. As an integral piece of the defense, the junior assisted the backline in three shootouts over the season. In 2020 the Tulsa, Okla. Native led all freshmen on the squad by played 1138 minutes and making all 14 starts. Overall, she has played 31 games and 2597 minutes in black and gold her first two seasons in Columbia.

The Tigers open their season Thursday, Aug. 18 at 7 p.m. against SEMO, at Audrey J. Walton Soccer Stadium. Admission is free or fans can watch the action on SEC Network+.
