Charlotte Independence Release Details for Latin Heritage Night

Charlotte Independence Front Office Welcomes Alex Kantor as Executive Director of Corporate Partnerships

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – The Charlotte Independence today released details for the club’s upcoming Latin Heritage Night presented by Blue Cross and Blue Shield of North Carolina (Blue Cross NC). Plans include a pre-game festival, Latin themed, limited-edition scarves and live entertainment preceding the team’s USL League One match vs. North Carolina FC. The event is scheduled for Saturday, September 24 at American Legion Memorial Stadium.


“We are fortunate to have such great partners like Blue Cross NC and Camino who have worked hand in hand with us to make this a great event in celebration of Charlotte’s Latin community,” explained Tim Schuldt, Charlotte Independence President and COO. “We invite all fans, friends and families to join us in September for this special occasion as we recognize the contributions and influence of Latin Americans on the history, culture, and achievements of the Charlotte community and beyond.”

Camino Fiesta y Fútbol is the name of the pregame festival being organized by club partner Camino. The event, located in the club’s parking lot, will feature a variety of cultural entertainment including mechanical bulls, bounce houses, professional wrestlers, zumba, beer, bands, and more. Camino Fiesta y Fútbol is free for all fans and is scheduled to begin at 4:00 p.m.

The Charlotte Independence have also designed a one-of-a-kind Latin Heritage Night scarf. It features Latin American flags, several of which represent the countries of the Charlotte Independence players. The words “Los Independence” are printed on the other side to celebrate the Independence’s Latin fans and the unity of cultures throughout the club and the Queen City.
