Ronaldo is becoming a loner at Man Utd and can’t stop ‘flapping his arms about’

Man Utd striker Cristiano Ronaldo looks frustrated

Cristiano Ronaldo is becoming increasingly isolated from the rest of the Man Utd squad after his attempts to leave the club this summer, according to reports.

The Portugal international made it clear to the club’s hierarchy that he wants to leave this summer if they receive any ‘satisfactory’ offers from other sides.

Apart from an offer from an unnamed Saudi Arabian club, there appears to be a lack of concrete interest in Ronaldo from top clubs.

Man Utd’s depressed players need help, and all the fall-out from Tuchel v Conte…

There was speculation Chelsea and Atletico Madrid could be in for him but Man Utd have made their stance clear that he is not for sale this summer.

The Metro confirmed through a Man Utd spokesperson today that ‘there is no change in the club’s position’ over Ronaldo and that they will not be terminating his contract.

That scenario would make it a lot easier for Ronaldo to find a new team, with clubs likely to be put off by paying Man Utd a fee as well as forking out for the striker’s hefty personal terms.

United’s signings so far this summer have not filled Ronaldo, or their fans, with confidence that they can have a successful season with Erik ten Hag losing his first two matches in charge of the club.

Man Utd had a successful pre-season tour without their star striker – who was dealing with ‘family issues’ – but The Athletic insists that Ronaldo’s ‘reintegration into the squad has proven challenging’.

The report claims:

The Athletic has been told of days where he eats lunch alone in the canteen at Carrington, while he has been seen flapping his arms about in training and attempting to argue against the high-pressing approach favoured by the new manager. Both the club and Ronaldo’s representatives were approached for comment.’

Sources have told The Athletic that Ronaldo ‘has been afforded greater leeway than his peers and indulged beyond the contribution he is currently providing to the club.’.

And for those reasons Ten Hag is now contemplating life without Ronaldo with the Dutchman ready to accept life without the Portugal international – ‘but only if United recruit in the forward position, where they are currently painfully short of options’.

The report adds that Ronaldo further p*ssed off United’s coaching staff by not acknowledging the Red Devils’ travelling contingent on Saturday in their dire 4-0 drubbing at the hands of Brentford.
