August 15, 2022 – Canadian Premier League (CPL)Atletico Ottawa News Release

Atlético Ottawa return to TD Place for a Wednesday night game under the floodlights, hosting Nova Scotia’s HFX Wanderers (KO 7 PM ET). Head Coach Carlos González has bested the Halifax-based side on both occasions this season and will be looking to maintain that winning streak.

Following a difficult road trip to British Columbia, Ottawa will be relishing the opportunity to play in front of their passionate home support that continues to inspire them every week.

Here’s everything you need to know ahead of Wednesday’s kick-off.

Atlético Ottawa currently sit in fourth place in the Canadian Premier League with 32 points after 19 games (9-5-5).

HFX Wanderers are sixth with 21 points from 19 games.

A win on Wednesday would see Atleti leapfrog Cavalry FC into third place.

Ottawa has 9 matches left in the 2022 regular season, with only 4 of those to be played at home at TD Place.

This season, Gonazález’s team have a 100% record against their East Coast opponents, winning once at TD Place and once on the road.

Goals from Ollie Basssett and Miguel Acosta gave Atleti the victory when these two sides met at the Wanderer Grounds at the end of June, kickstarting a five-game undefeated streak.

The last clash at TD Place was in the second game of the season, as Ottawa picked up all three points courtesy of Malcolm Shaw’s 81st-minute header.

HFX Wanderers ended a six-game unbeaten run on the weekend, beating Valour FC 1-0.

Goal scorer, Canadian forward Sam Salter, has now scored seven goals in the CPL this season.

Salter is fifth in the league’s top scorers’ standings.

Record head-to-head (all-time): 3W-2D-4L; 8 goals scored, 8 goals conceded.
