Big Ten Players to Watch, Preseason Poll (Aug. 15)

Seniors Hannah Blake and Lily Farkas and sophomore Avery Kalitta were named Michigan’s Big Ten Preseason Players to Watch.

Blake and Farkas step into featured roles in the U-M attack after coming off the bench last season. Blake tallied four goals and three assists (11 points) in 21 matches. Farkas saw time in 23 matches last season, and scoring once while dishing out three helpers.

Kalitta went from a reserve holding midfielder role in the early part of her freshman season to indispensable during U-M’s postseason run. She played in 24 matches, but was in the starting XI in every contest of U-M’s run through the Big Ten and NCAA Tournaments. Following the season, she was named to the Big Ten All-Freshman team.

The Wolverines also were selected third in the preseason coaches poll, behind Rutgers and Penn State, who tied atop the poll. » Big Ten Release
