Man Utd ‘really confident’ of sealing €18m transfer with signing now ‘even more urgent’

Man Utd target Adrien Rabiot leaves the bus

Man Utd are closing in on the signing of Juventus midfielder Adrien Rabiot, according to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano.

The Red Devils are in desperate need of reinforcements after losing both of Erik ten Hag’s first two Premier League matches in charge, including a 4-0 embarrassment against Brentford yesterday.

Man Utd have been heavily criticised for their lack of support for Ten Hag in the transfer market with just Tyrell Malacia, Lisandro Martinez and Christian Eriksen being brought in to improve the squad.

Speculation surrounding Cristiano Ronaldo’s future and their long-running pursuit of Frenkie de Jong has dominated the summer, while recent negotiations for Marko Arnautovic and Rabiot appear to show a lack of long-term planning.

Romano claims that ‘all parties involved are now really confident to get the deal done’ with previous reports claiming that it won’t spell the end of United’s interest in De Jong.

Italian publication Calciomercato claim that Man Utd ‘will try to squeeze’ for Rabiot over the next few days with their loss against Brentford a ‘further alarm bell’ which has made new signings ‘even more urgent’.

The reports adds that ‘new contacts are expected’ on Sunday for Rabiot as the Premier League club look to conclude ‘the negotiation with mother Veronique as quickly as possible’.

Juventus are waiting for ‘white smoke’ from Rabiot’s side as they look to use the money to freshen up their midfield before the end of the transfer window.

Paris Saint-Germain midfielder Leandro Paredes is their top target to replace Rabiot with the Argentina international on a ‘long list of expendables’ in Paris.

The continue by saying that the completion of Rabiot to Man Utd ‘would make everything…
