Chelsea linked with two more as Romano confirms Aubameyang, Fofana as ‘priority deals’

Chelsea target Cesare Casadei is seen warming up

Chelsea are treating negotiations for Leicester City’s Wesley Fofana and Barcelona’s Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang as their priority, according to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano.

The Blues have had a busy transfer market so far with Andreas Christensen, Antonio Rudiger, Timo Werner and Romelu Lukaku among the departures this summer.

Marc Cucurella, Raheem Sterling, Kalidou Koulibaly, Carney Chukwuemeka and Gabriel Slonina have all signed for Thomas Tuchel’s side and there’s more to come.

With Christensen and Rudiger leaving for Barcelona and Real Madrid respectively, Chelsea have brought in Koulibaly and are now focused on delivering a deal for Fofana.

Chelsea, who host Tottenham today, have reportedly made two bids of £60m and £65m for Fofana but Leicester are demanding in excess of £80m for one of their best players.

Leicester boss Brendan Rodgers hit back at suggestions that Fofana was saying farewell to Foxes fans after their 4-2 defeat to Arsenal on Saturday.

Rodgers said: “No, I think he was giving the fans a clap. I didn’t see a farewell clap. But you need to write what you need to write. That’s the story.”

And now Romano has claimed that the Blues ‘are in direct contact for Pierre Aubameyang and Wesley Fofana as priority deals’  while ‘still working on top talents for the future’.

He insists that a fresh ’round of talks’ are scheduled with Inter Milan over youngster Cesare Casadei ‘next week’ with the ‘race still open but Chelsea want to try again with new bid’.

Italian publication Calciomercato also say that Chelsea are ‘serious’ about Casadei with ‘a new relaunch coming’ after their first offer of €8m was turned down by the Serie A giants.

Inter are willing to sell the young midfielder but want a higher price with a sell-on clause inserted, in case he goes for big money in the future.

And Spanish newspaper AS (via Sport Witness) claims that there is a possibility that the Premier League side also pursue a deal for Barcelona defender Sergino Dest.

The USA international was left out of Xavi’s Barcelona squad for their first match of the new La Liga season as they drew 0-0 against Rayo Vallecano.

AS reckon his absence ‘points to a transfer’ with west London club Chelsea named as one of the most likely destinations.
