Lepley Selected to United Soccer Coaches Preseason Watch List

LOS ANGELES – UCLA redshirt sophomore Tucker Lepley has been named to the United Soccer Coaches Player to Watch list for midfielders, it was announced on Friday morning.

Lepley is coming off a superlative freshman campaign, as he led the team in scoring with 17 points (5-7-17) in 2021 en route to all-region and Freshman All-American honors. He also led the squad in shots on goal (18) and shots-on-goal percentage (62%), and played the most minutes (1,652) of any midfielder on the squad. Lepley was voted Team MVP at the program’s annual end-of-year banquet.

The Charlotte, N.C. native joins UCLA teammates Nicolas Blassou and Pietro Grassi on the United Soccer Coaches Player to Watch list (defenders were honored earlier this week).

UCLA, which enters the campaign ranked No. 23 in the United Soccer Coaches Preseason Poll, begins its 2022 schedule on Monday, Aug. 15 with an exhibition tilt against Westmont. The Bruins officially open the regular season on Aug. 25 by hosting UC Irvine at Wallis Annenberg Stadium starting at 7:00 p.m. PT.
