The Midlands club are looking for cover for Raul Jimenez, who is currently sidelined after being stretchered off in pre-season.

Meanwhile, Everton are in need of a forward following the departure of Richarlison to Tottenham earlier this summer and Dominic Calvert-Lewin suffering another injury setback that has ruled him out for up to six weeks.

Ajorque, a 6ft 6ins striker, was watched by English scouts against Monaco on Saturday.

Strasbourg are willing to sell Ajorque this summer, but the forward will cost around £18million.

However, a number of Bundesliga sides in Germany are also understood to be interested in Ajorque.

Ajorque has hit double figures for goals in his last four seasons with Strasbourg across all competitions.

His best goalscoring campaign for Strasbourg came in 2020-21 when he netted 16 times in Ligue 1, and he followed that up by scoring 12 in France’s top flight last season.
