Ronaldo given unlikely escape route, club president reveals desire to sign unsettled Man Utd man

Cristiano Ronaldo has been offered an unexpected way out of Manchester United after the Corinthians president admitted he wants to sign the 37-year-old.

The Portuguese striker wants to leave the Premier League club after a disappointing 2021/22 campaign.

The Red Devils finished sixth in the league despite bringing in Ronaldo, Jadon Sancho and Raphael Varane last summer.

They will play in the Europa League this season as a result and will be ten years without a league title if they don’t defy the odds and beat Manchester City and Liverpool to top spot this term.

Ronaldo’s main reason for wanting out of Old Trafford is to compete in the Champions League.

The experienced Portuguese forward is currently the all-time top scorer in the competition and has won it five times.

He is wary that Lionel Messi is only 15 goals behind him and absolutely does not want to be caught by the wonderful Argentine.

It probably has something to do with his astronomical wages – although he is reportedly willing to take a huge wage cut.

Maybe it’s the fact he is 37 years old. Or because he is apparently difficult to work with and not the best to have around the dressing room. Who knows?

Overall, Ronaldo doesn’t fit the philosophy of a lot of clubs. Bayern Munich CEO Oliver Kahn came out to distance the club from rumours linking them with the wantaway United man and Paris Saint-Germain are unfortunately not keen, denying everyone the chance to see Ronaldo and Messi play together.

Just when it was all doom and gloom for Ronaldo as he prepares for United’s Premier League opener against Brighton, potentially as the man leading the line, the former Juventus man has been offered an interesting way out.

Corinthians president Duilio Monteiro Alves has confessed that…
