August 5, 2022 – Major League Soccer (MLS)New England Revolution News Release

FOXBOROUGH, Mass. – The New England Revolution (6-7-9; 27 pts.) will visit Orlando City SC (8-9-6; 30 pts.) on Saturday night for a 7:30 p.m. ET kickoff at Exploria Stadium. The match airs on WSBK-TV38, myRITV (Rhode Island), and Cozi TV (Western Mass.), and 98.5 The Sports Hub with Brad Feldman and Charlie Davies calling the action. The match also airs on 1260 AM Nossa Radio in Portuguese.

New England registered its second consecutive clean sheet, and its fifth shutout of the 2022 campaign, with last Saturday’s 0-0 draw against Toronto FC in front a season-high crowd of 29,097 at Gillette Stadium. The Revolution have not conceded a goal from open play in the last three games and are looking to record three straight shutouts for the first time since 2015. Goalkeeper Djordje Petrović backstopped the defense with a three-save performance, including a penalty-kick denial on Lorenzo Insigne’s attempt. The 22-year-old is just the eighth goalkeeper in league history to save two penalty-kick attempts through his first 10 MLS appearances. Petrović, who earned MLSsoccer.com Team of the Week honors, has registered three shutouts as he prepares to make his 10th MLS start this weekend.

In the attack, forward Giacomo Vrioni continues to round into form after making his Gillette Stadium debut last weekend with a 35-minute performance off the bench. The 23-year-old forward contributed three shots in the attack in his second straight appearance since arriving in July. He will combine with midfielder Carles Gil, the league’s co-leader with 11 assists, before the Revolution captain heads off to 2022 MLS All-Star Week in Minnesota following the match.

New England are undefeated in their last seven regular season meetings with Orlando, 3-0-4, and own a 5-2-7 mark in the all-time series. However, the Revolution have only won once in Orlando, a 3-1 triumph in the 2020 Eastern Conference Semifinals. Entering Saturday’s tilt, the Lions have collected just one victory in their last seven MLS games with a 1-4-2 record during that stretch.

The Revolution return to action following a flurry of moves at the MLS transfer deadline, highlighted by the addition of three experienced players to the roster. New England added defender Christian Makoun from Charlotte FC on Thursday before announcing the acquisitions of attacking midfielder Ismael Tajouri-Shradi and goalkeeper Clement Diop on Friday, all in…
