Match Preview: NYRB II Begins Four-Match Homestand with Clash against New Mexico United

HARRISON, N.J. – New York Red Bulls II (2-15-3, 9 points) will host New Mexico United (9-3-8, 35 points) on Sunday, July 31. Kickoff at MSU Soccer Park is scheduled for 6:00 p.m. ET with coverage on ESPN+.


The match will mark the first-ever meeting between the two sides. Red Bulls II will look to bounce back after falling to Monterey Bay F.C., 2-0, on Saturday, July 23, at Cardinale Stadium. New Mexico earned a road point with a later goal in a 2-2 draw against Detroit City FC on the same day.

Red Bulls II will kick off a season-long four match homestand on Sunday, which will include matches against New Mexico United, Memphis 901 FC, Atlanta United 2, and the Charleston Battery, spanning 13 days. The stretch is the longest homestand for the club since April of 2019.

New Mexico enters the match with 35 points on the season and nine victories. The club is unbeaten in its last six matches as well as its last eight road matches. Neco Brett and Justin Portillo each have six goals on the season to lead New Mexico.

Red Bulls II defender O’Vonte Mullings has started the last 11 matches for New York, the longest current streak on the team. He has played the full 90 minutes in each match during that span.

New York sits 14th in the Eastern Conference, while New Mexico ranks 4th in the Western Conference.

Following the match, New York will remain home to face Memphis 901 FC on Wednesday, August 3, at MSU Soccer Park. Kickoff is slated for 7:00 p.m. ET with coverage available on ESPN+.
