COLUMBUS – Columbus Crew 2 today announced that it has signed defender Tristan Weber to an MLS NEXT Pro professional contract on a free transfer from USL Championship side Charleston Battery. The contract is pending league and federation approval. Terms were not disclosed.


Weber, 22, joins Crew 2 after spending the first half of the 2022 season with the Charleston Battery of the USL Championship, where the California native made 12 appearances for the Battery across all competitions. Prior to his time in Charleston, Weber spent the 2021 USL Championship season with Las Vegas Lights FC, making 13 appearances.

At the collegiate level, the defender appeared in 28 matches for San Diego State University from 2019-2021. Prior to his time with San Diego State, Weber played for the University of Portland helping the team reach the second round of the NCAA Tournament in 2018.

At the international level, Weber was part of the U.S. Soccer Under-17 Residency Program from 2016-2017.

Crew 2 currently sits atop the MLS NEXT Pro standings, boasting a record of 12-2-2. The Black & Gold return to action in a road contest against Philadelphia Union II at Subaru Park on Sunday, July 31 [7:00 p.m. ET / MLSNEXTPro.com (stream)].
