Jonathan Lewis scored his fourth goal of the season, but the Colorado Rapids (6-9-6, 24 pts) saw their three-game unbeaten run end with a 2-1 loss against Seattle Sounders FC (9-10-2, 29 pts) at Lumen Field on Saturday night. Diego Rubio, who assisted on the play, recorded his fifth consecutive match with either a goal or an assist.


Notable Numbers:

F Jonathan Lewis, who opened the scoring in the third minute, has now recorded one goal and two assists over his previous two appearances.

F Diego Rubio was credited with the assist on Lewis’ goal, marking the fifth consecutive match that the Chilean has recorded a goal or an assist.

Tonight’s result marked just the second time Robin Fraser has suffered a loss against Seattle since taking over as Rapids head coach in 2019 (3-2-2).

The Rapids are now 6-3-2 when scoring the first goal in 2022.

On tonight’s match:

“First and foremost, Seattle is a very good team. They had a number of that all played really well. Disappointing for us to get the goal and then proceed to not play the way that we can play. Yeah, I don’t know. You look at their goal, though, and all I’m going to say is look at where the so-called foul happen-everyone should watch it again and see what they think about that call-and then the distance between where the foul occurred and where the ball was played from, I just don’t understand how that’s okay. But yeah, I don’t know what the reason is. I don’t know why that happens, but it seems like it happens to us every week. We had a great goal taken away last week, and then this week, I just don’t even understand how a foul can happen in one half of the field and the free kick is taken in the other half of the field and somehow that’s okay. But again, I first and foremost, I want to give credit to Seattle because I really think that a number of their players played extremely well tonight.”
