Steve Cooper’s Nottingham Forest are pushing for a move to sign ‘Real Betis left back Alex Moreno.’

Betis enjoyed an excellent season last year, finishing fifth in La Liga and winning the Copa Del Rey.

Moreno was a key part of their success, scoring five goals in 38 games. It was an impressive showing from the 29-year-old, who has spent much of his career in Spain’s second tier.

According to reports in the Athletic, negotiations between the clubs are in their ‘early stages’, but their is ‘optimism’ that the deal will go ahead.

They also reported that Moreno would be open to the transfer if the clubs can agree terms.

It is something of a surprise to see Forest linked with another fullback, as they have already bought in Neco Williams from Liverpool and Omar RIchards from Bayern Munich.

The Tricky trees are also expected to complete the signings of Lewis O’Brien and Harry Toffolo from Huddersfield in the next few days, which would take their summer spending past £70million.

The shopping spree has made them look especially strong at the back after picking up experienced Bundesliga defender Moussa Niakhate for an initial £8.5m earlier this month.

It remains to be seen how quickly these new signings will settle in the Premier League, but Forest are giving themselves every chance to establish themselves in the top flight.
