Conte ‘very happy’ with £60m Richarlison, details where ex-Everton man will play for Tottenham

Conte speaks on Richarlison

Antonio Conte has offered an insight into where Richarlison will play for Tottenham Hotspur next season following his summer move from Everton.

Spurs have been busy in the transfer market this summer. They have brought in the likes of Yves Bissouma, Ivan Perisic and Fraser Forster.

They have also bought Richarlison from Everton for around £60m. He was involved in 15 league goals last term as the Toffees avoided relegation down to the Championship.

Spurs optimism is high but a realistic target is to simply avoid Spursy backwards steps

Richarlison has travelled to South Korea with the rest of Tottenham’s squad for a pre-season camp.

They beat Team K League 6-3 on Wednesday in their first friendly ahead of the 2022/23 campaign.

Richarlison played in the win and he has been praised by Conte. The Italian thinks the ex-Everton man is capable of playing in all three forward positions:

“Today I’ve seen a lot of positive things about Richarlison,” Conte said during his post-match press conference (as cited by Football London).

“The first half he played like a number nine and the second half he played on the right, behind the striker. I think he can play in all these three positions.

“I think he is strong physically and a good personality, good character, good quality. For sure also for Richy in this period, he is working and we are working on the tactical aspects with him because he has to go into our idea. At the same time, we have to work on the physical aspects for him to be fit.

“But for sure he is a player that gives me important positions up front. He’s is a good player, strong and very good [at] protecting the ball and attacking the space. Also, he made a good assist, I’m very happy that we signed him.”

Elsewhere, according to reports, Tottenham Hotspur are not in any rush to finalise a new deal for their forward Harry Kane.

His current contract expires in 2024 and he has been linked with a move to Bayern Munich in recent days.

The German giants look set to lose Robert Lewandowski this summer. The prolific attacker is hoping to join FC Barcelona.

Despite this, 90min are reporting that Tottenham ‘are not rushing to tie Kane down to a new contract’.

The 28-year-old is said to be ‘happy at Spurs under Antonio Conte’. They add that the ‘general mood at the club is better’ than it was when Nuno Espirito Santo was in charge.
