PEACHTREE CITY, Ga. – In a courageous effort, South Georgia Tormenta FC 2 fought to the end in tonight’s 5-2 defeat on the road to Peachtree City MOBA. Alexis Ledoux scored the first goal of the night early in the first half to give South Georgia its first lead of the night. Brittain Gottlieb helped South Georgia regain the lead and became the third Tormenta FC Academy product to score for Tormenta FC 2.

Tormenta FC 2 found the night’s first goal in the 11th minute after Alexis Ledoux found the back of the net after successfully putting away the low cross by Brian Illiohan.

MOBA found the equalizer three minutes after with a counter attack that finished with a powerful shot to the top-right corner, beating Stephen O’Hearn.

Shortly before the water break, Brittain Gottlieb helped Tormenta FC 2 regain the lead after a free kick was punched away by the opposing keeper. Gottlieb converted via a half-volley placed to the top-right corner. Gottlieb becomes the third Tormenta FC Academy product to score for Tormenta FC 2, following James Brighton’s goal in 2016 and Tristian DeLoach’s earlier this season at Asheville City.

Three minutes into the start of the second half, Peachtree City equalized for the second time tonight. MOBA found the lead in the 61st minute. Two more goals from MOBA in the 73rd and 74th minutes gave them a three-goal advantage that it never let go.

South Georgia’s pre-professional soccer team, Tormenta FC 2, has helped nearly 50 players achieve their professional dreams since 2015. TFC 2 finished its season as champion of the Deep South Division in 2018 before making a run to the League Two Semifinals for the first time in club history in 2019. In 2021, Tormenta FC 2 finished the season with a 12-4-1 overall record (10-3-1 in the regular season), qualifying for the League Two Playoffs for a third straight season.
