  • Everton have had a £25million bid for Morgan Gibbs-White by rivals Wolves
  • The Wolves midfielder impressed last season while on loan at Sheffield United

Wolves have rejected a bid for English midfielder Morgan Gibbs-White from Everton, thought to be around £25million.

With his contract expiring in 2024, Wolves are believed to be keen to tie the England U21 international down to a longer-term deal amid interest from a number of clubs.

Having impressed on loan at Championship side Sheffield United last term Gibbs-White looks set for a more important role at Molineux this season as Bruno Lage looks to improve on a tenth place finish.

However, talks over a new deal have stalled of late, and if an agreement cannot be reached soon, Wolves may look to sell the player whilst they can still command a decent fee for his services.

Having graduated from the club’s academy in 2017, Gibbs-White has made 86 senior appearances but only 20 Premier League appearances in three seasons.

But last season he was given the opportunity to showcase his abilities by Blades manager Paul Heckingbottom, in a more attacking role than he was used to at Wolves.

The England U21 international played an influential role as the Blades reached the Championship play-offs, scoring 12 goals and assisting 12 more in 37 games, drawing the eye of Forest boss Steve Cooper as well as Frank Lampard.

Gibbs-White is admired by Cooper, who worked with him at Swansea and with England Under-17s, while Everton sporting director Kevin Thelwell held a similar role at Wolves when academy product Gibbs-White made his breakthrough.

Wolves also remain open to offers for Adama Traore, who is back at the club after a loan stint at Barcelona and is entering the final year of his contract.
