Haaland Reveals Why He Chose Man City Amid Heavy Interest

New Manchester City signing Erling Haaland has revealed why he chose to sign with the English champions amid a race of powerhouse clubs.

The 21-year-old Norwegian striker had interest from Real Madrid, Barcelona, Paris Saint-Germain, Manchester United and Chelsea but opted to move from Borussia Dortmund this off-season.

Haaland, who has joined on a five-year contract, was unveiled by City at Etihad Stadium on Sunday afternoon.

The goal machine revealed that he was seduced to join City after facing them in the UEFA Champions League last season with Dortmund.

“I played against City, and you see something on TV, but when you meet it in reality its completely different,” he said.

“I didnt touch the ball for 25 minutes! I was like, please Gundogan stop playing tiki-taka! Its a different level how City create chances. Thats what I want to be a part of.”

Leeds-born Haaland, whose father Alf-Inge played for City between 2000 and 2003, added: “I had a feeling in my stomach. The way they play. I had the feeling for City.

“There are so many good players. Its a huge potential. City are already winners and its already a huge potential. I am really excited.

“Every footballer wants to win trophies and become better every single day.

“Sometimes I see players pose with a trophy and I say, I would love to be you. Lets keep working hard and hopefully I will win some trophies.”

City also unveiled fellow new signings Julian Alvarez, Stefan Ortega Moreno and Kalvin Phillips on Sunday, although the latter was absent due to illness.
