The Spaniard is highly valued at Brighton who are expected to demand around £45m once City make their move. 

City are expected to bid once Raheem Sterling‘s £55m fee is finalised with Chelsea. They also want another centre-back lined up before they allow Nathan Ake to join Chelsea.

Cucurella has impressed on the south coast after joining Brighton for £15.4million from Getafe last season.

He has been an almost-ever-present in Graham Potter’s defence, making 38 appearances in all competitions last season, scoring one goal.

He went onto win the Seagulls’ Player of the Year award, and his performances have perked the ears of rival clubs.
