Atlanta, GEORGIA – A strong team performance saw Austin FC defeat Atlanta United FC 3-0 on Saturday night at Mercedes-Benz Stadium, the Club’s fourth-consecutive away victory and sixth shutout of the season. The result keeps Austin in second place in the MLS Supporters’ Shield standings, and gives the team the best road record in the league.

The Verde & Black found the net on their first foray forward in the 9th-minute. Felipe passed to Ethan Finlay on the right, darted into the box to get on the end of Finlay’s cross, and headed home his first goal for the Club.

Finlay then doubled Austin’s advantage himself eight minutes later, reacting quickest to a loose ball in front of goal.

ATXFC didn’t stop there. After coming on as a substitute to start the second half, Sebastián Driussi scored his 11th MLS goal of 2022 in the 57th-minute, finishing into an empty net following Maxi Urruti’s shot off the post. ATXFC is now unbeaten in its last 12 matches (9-3-0) in which Driussi has been on the scoresheet.

Austin remained solid at the back to see out the victory with a three-goal cushion, taking the team’s record against Eastern Conference opponents to an unbeaten 6-1-0 on the season, including wins in all four of its cross-conference road matches.
