Back in their winning ways following a gritty win in Halifax, Atlético Ottawa faced a quick turnaround as they travelled straight to Hamilton to take on Forge FC on Sunday afternoon, looking to keep the momentum going before an upcoming return home. Despite a packed week, no excuses were made and Atlético Ottawa pulled together their first-ever win at Tim Hortons Field with a hard-fought 1-0 victory.

Ottawa now sit in first place, tied with their next opponent, Cavalry FC, who visit TD Place this Saturday, July 9.

KEY MOMENTS

All Atlético Ottawa needed to find their footing at Tim Hortons Field was an Ollie Bassett. The midfielder scored a crucial goal for Ottawa in Hamilton for the second time this season.

Bassett, who had scored the lone Ottawa goal in Hamilton on their last trip (1-1 draw on May 14), unlocked the Atlético offence once more on a perfectly struck free kick in the 78th minute.

As a result, Bassett now has both Atlético Ottawa goals against Forge FC to his name.

This was the fourth goal this season for the midfielder, all scored within the last 8 matches.

This was the first win at Tim Hortons Field in Atlético Ottawa franchise history.

The defensive structure and underrated play of the entire Ottléti squad were key to securing another patient win.

With 15 tackles won (Acosta 2) and 16 interceptions (Tissot 4), the compact style preached by Head Coach Gonzalez is paying dividends.

Ottawa kept at bay one of the most potent attack in the league; Forge FC have an average of 1.91 goals per game through 11 matches played.

Atlético Ottawa collected 3 wins in their last five matches, including 2 wins in their last 3 road matches.

Sitting tied atop the table, Ottawa have an overall record this season of 7W-3D-3L for 24 points.

Ottawa return home this coming Saturday, July 9th, when they host Cavalry FC under the lights of TD Place for a good old-fashioned Beach Party.
