Newcastle ‘seriously considering bid’ for ‘top West Ham target’

Reported Newcastle target Armando Broja celebrates his goal

Newcastle are “seriously considering” making a bid for Chelsea striker Armando Broja, with West Ham and Leicester also keen, according to Ben Jacobs.

Broja spent last season on loan with Southampton but will have a chance to impress Blues head coach Thomas Tuchel in pre-season.

Transfer gossip: Man Utd ‘closing in’ on Premier League star; Arsenal ‘very interested’ in midfielder

He scored six Premier League goals in 32 appearances in 2021/22.

Despite the fact Tuchel is open to giving the Albanian a chance, on top of the departure of Romelu Lukaku, the club are reportedly open to selling for the right price.

West Ham are believed to be very keen on signing Broja as David Moyes looks to bolster his attack. The Hammers’ only out-and-out striker is Michail Antonio and has been for a while.

Newcastle have also been linked with a move and will have no issue meeting Chelsea’s valuation of the young striker, though they have not succumbed to overpaying for players under their new ownership.

The 20-year-old is believed to be valued at £30m, and according to CBS Sports journalist Ben Jacobs, ‘Newcastle are seriously considering making a bid’ after pulling the plug on their pursuit of Hugo Ekitike.

A deal was in place to sign the young Reims striker after they had a bid accepted and agreed personal terms, however, the Magpies have turned their attention elsewhere over the demands of Ekitike’s agent.

Jacobs revealed that he is a “top target” for West Ham, while Ajax have made an enquiry.

Furthermore, Napoli have a “long-standing interest” and Premier League club Leicester are “monitoring” the situation.

Elsewhere, Leeds winger Raphinha rejected an offer from Newcastle with Barcelona now closing in on a deal, according to Gerard Romero.

It is understood that Barca have agreed to pay Raphinha ‘a salary of €6m net per season’ and Moreno adds that ‘in recent days’ the 25-year-old ‘turned down an offer from Newcastle’.

Fabrizio Romano has still not confirmed that Leeds and Barca have an agreement but has always maintained that Raphinha has already agreed a five-year deal with the La Liga giants.
