On Saturday, 2 July, the horse racing NAP of the Day with SportsLens tipsters is Heredia. She goes in the Listed 1m Coral Distaff for three-year-old fillies at Sandown Park this afternoon (3:00). Richard Hannon’s charge is a strong fancy at 6/5 on her first start in a black type race.
Progressing out of horse racing handicaps, Heredia looks well worth a crack at Listed level based on how she shaped last time out. Unbeaten in four career starts, this is the next logical step for the daughter of Dark Angel. Heredia is thus our horse racing NAP for 2 July. Read on for even more reasons to back her.
Why will horse racing NAP of the Day Heredia win?
Few fillies have the talent and ability to defy a 7lb rise in the weights and win a Royal Ascot handicap in the manner Heredia did with the Sandringham Stakes. Her success at York on her previous outing could certainly be marked up, but the way she scythed through a huge field suggested she was well above average.
Hit with a further 8lb hike from the assessor, Heredia steps up in class and should have problem with Sandown. She’s handled galloping tracks like Newbury and the stiff straight mile at Ascot, so the Esher hill holds no fears. While the best UK betting sites haven’t missed her in the market, she just had to be our horse racing NAP of the Day.
This is because she comes out clear of the field on ratings. A £10 punt on Heredia with 888Sport returns £22 at her current price if she can complete her hat-trick for the season and make it five career starts unbeaten here. Her rivals have it all to do if she repeats her display from the royal meeting.
