NYRB II Hosts Pittsburgh Riverhounds FC in Friday Night Matchup

HARRISON, N.J. – New York Red Bulls II (1-12-3, 6 points) will host Pittsburgh Riverhounds SC (7-6-3, 24 points) on Friday, July 1, at MSU Soccer Park. Kickoff is set for 7:00 p.m. ET with coverage on ESPN+.


The two sides will meet for the 19th time in their history, marking their eighth match since the beginning of the 2020 season. Pittsburgh has won the last six meetings but took the most recent match by a narrow 1-0 margin at Highmark Stadium on September 1, 2021. New York has won six of the ten meetings at home.

Both clubs will look to bounce back after falling in their most recent match. Red Bulls II fell to El Paso Locomotive FC while the Riverhounds were defeated by the Tampa Bay Rowdies, with both matches being played on Saturday, June 25.

If he starts on Friday, AJ Marcucci will move into sole possession of second in club history in both matches and starts in goal. The West Chester, Pennsylvania, native is currently tied with Ryan Meara at 30 in both categories. Marcucci passed Meara for second in club history for minutes in goal during the club’s last match in El Paso. He has 2,700 minutes over 30 matches over his Red Bulls II career.

New York sits 14th in the Eastern Conference, while Pittsburgh ranks sixth.

Following the match, New York will travel to face Louisville City FC on Saturday, July 9. Kickoff at Lynn Family Stadium is scheduled for 8:00 p.m. ET with coverage available on ESPN+.
