Man Utd target warned ‘to be careful’ this summer as club set asking price at £80m

Man Utd target Antony

Ajax midfielder Antony has been warned against forcing through a move to Man Utd this summer as the Dutch side are “free to ask what they want”.

Erik ten Hag left Ajax to take over at Man Utd ahead of the 2022/23 campaign. They are yet to sign any new players but they are targeting Frenkie de Jong and Tyrell Malacia.

The Red Devils are also being linked with Ajax winger Antony. The 22-year-old grabbed twelve goals and ten assists in 32 outings last season.

De Jong FIRST, then? But why? Man Utd and an inability to transfer multitask

Dutch analyst Aad de Mos has waded in on Antony’s situation at Ajax. His contract is not due to expire until 2025 and he is valued at £80m.

De Mos thinks Antony would dampen his reputation if he attempted to force through his exit:

“That doesn’t come from Antony; it comes more from the agents usually,” De Mos said (quotes via Sport Witness).

“I don’t think it’s very wise for his reputation. Ajax is free to ask what they want because he still has a long-term contract.

“He has to be careful with it; it could be a disadvantage to himself because Ten Hag and United could say: we are no longer interested in a player who does that.”

Meanwhile, Liverpool have been told by Borussia Dortmund that they will have to pay “at least £103m’ to sign Jude Bellingham next year.

Man Utd were interested in Bellingham prior to his £25m move to Borussia Dortmund in 2020.

Bellingham has already played 90 times for the German side across all competitions. This includes several impressive outings in the Champions League.

The midfielder has been heavily linked with a move to Liverpool in recent months, with them expected to move for him next summer.

SportBILD (via The Daily Mail) are reporting that Dortmund have told interested clubs that ‘at least £103m’ is needed to buy Bellingham in 2023.

It is said that they are ‘bracing themselves for a host of bids for the England star next year’. As well as Liverpool, Man Utd and Real Madrid are ‘keen’ on the teenager. His contract does not expire until 2025.
