COLLEGE PARK, Md. – Maryland men’s soccer head coach Sasho Cirovski announced the program’s 2022 schedule, featuring 10 matches at Ludwig Field and a neutral site matchup against Virginia at Audi Field in Washington, D.C.
“Schedule release day is always an exciting day,” Cirovski said. “I can already hear the sounds of The Crew, in their 20th season, and the rest of our outstanding community of fans who have created the best environment in college soccer for years. Our team will be fully prepared to entertain our fans and compete against the best. We cannot wait for opening night at Ludwig and the rest of what will be a fantastic year.”
The Terps will begin the season with three matches at home, with opening night at Ludwig coming on Thursday, Aug. 25 (7:30 PM) against New Hampshire, who was a seeded team in the 2021 NCAA Tournament. The Terps will then take on Liberty (Sunday, Aug. 28, 7:30 p.m.).
The first Friday Night Lights match of the season at Ludwig will take place Sept. 2 against 2021 Summit League champion Denver with kickoff scheduled for 7:30 p.m. The Terps will then renew the greatest rivalry in college soccer against Virginia at Audi Field on Monday, Sept. 5 (6:00 p.m.). The Terps will face off with local rival Georgetown back in The District on Saturday, Sept. 10 at 1 p.m., before traveling to Michigan for the Big Ten Conference opener against the Wolverines (Friday, Sept. 16, 7 p.m.).
Maryland opens up a three-match home stand on Tuesday, Sept. 20 against 2021 Big Ten Champion Penn State (7 p.m.) prior to a match with Ohio State on Sunday, Sept 25 at 1 p.m. The Terps then are back on the pitch on a Ludwig Friday Night against Old Dominion (Sept. 30, 7 p.m.).
The Terps’ October slate begins with a match at Rutgers on Tuesday, Oct. 4 at 7 p.m. Maryland then travels to Northwestern to clash with the Wildcats on Sunday, Oct. 9 at 1 p.m.
A four-match home stretch follows as the Terps host Wisconsin on Friday, Oct. 14 at 7 p.m. A match with High Point (Monday, Oct. 17, 7 p.m.) precedes a final home conference content against Michigan State on Friday, Oct. 21 at 7 p.m. The Terps will then host Delaware on Tuesday, Oct. 25 at 7 p.m.
The season finale comes in Bloomington as the Terps face off with Indiana on Oct. 30 at 1 p.m. All match times are subject to change based on television coverage…
