West Ham make £30m-rated Chelsea striker their ‘number one target’ this summer

Reported West Ham target Armando Broja celebrates his goal

Chelsea striker Armando Broja is West Ham manager David Moyes’ top target this summer, according to reports.

The Albanian spent last season on with Southampton. He scored six goals in the Premier League as the Saints finished 16th.

Nayef Aguerd is a start but West Ham remain in an uneasy state of detente

It has been reported that Chelsea head coach Thomas Tuchel is eager for Broja to be a part of his plans for the upcoming season.

However, interest in the 20-year-old is high and a number of clubs were linked with a move in the winter transfer window.

West Ham are long-time admirers of the young striker and could turn their attention to him after securing the signing of Nayef Aguerd from Rennes.

According to Gianluca Di Marzio, Broja is the ‘first target’ for the Hammers. The club are not ‘close’ to reaching an agreement, but are working on a permanent deal worth £25-30m.

Southampton are believed to still be interested in the Albania international and Ralph Hasenhuttl is a huge fan following the player’s spell at St Mary’s in 2021/22.

Speaking in April, the Saints boss admitted that the club were struggling to find the right person at Stamford Bridge to negotiate with over a permanent transfer.

“We are discussing this topic in the moment,” the Austrian said of Broja’s situation.

“We all know the situation at Chelsea that there are a lot of changes there.

“In the moment, it’s not so easy to find the right person to talk to and to speak about futures of players.

“It’s maybe easier to concentrate on your job, to do a good job until the end of the season. That helps him, that helps us.

“The higher we end up in the table, the more attractive we are for all of the players and this is the goal for the last seven games we have.”
