Inter ‘refused to include’ trio in player-swap for Lukaku, Chelsea will accept €10m plus add-ons

Inter Milan to sign Lukaku

According to reports, Chelsea ‘pushed’ for a player-swap deal with Inter Milan for Romelu Lukaku but the Italians ‘refused to include’ three players.

Lukaku grabbed 64 goals and 16 assists in 95 appearances for Inter Milan across all competitions.

This form tempted Chelsea to re-sign him last summer for a fee in the region of £97.5m.

Ten Bundesliga stars that should be signed by a Premier League club this summer

Lukaku struggled for the Blues last term and he was quick to admit that he wanted to return to Inter Milan in the future.

The Belgium international only started 16 times in the Premier League. He scored 15 goals in 44 appearances overall.

CBS Sports reporter Ben Jacobs is reporting that Lukaku ‘will get his move back to Inter Milan’ this summer.

He adds that Chelsea wanted a player-swap deal, but Inter refused to include Milan Skriniar, Denzel Dumfries or Alessandro Bastoni in the transfer.

It is understood that the Serie A giants will ‘pay a loan fee of €10m plus add ons’.

Jacobs went onto state that ‘things are close to being finalised’. The Blues will now ‘turn their attentions to Raheem Sterling’, though the Man City star is ‘yet to decide on his future’.

Meanwhile, Chelsea and Lazio reportedly ‘held talks’ this week over a potential deal for Sergej Milinkovic-Savic.

He has been linked with Manchester United in the past, however, the Red Devils are no longer pursuing a deal.

This has opened the door for the likes of Chelsea, Newcastle United and Arsenal, who are all believed to be keen.

A report last week suggested that Milinkovic-Savic has no interest in joining the Magpies or Gunners as he aims to play in the Champions League.

The Serbian international is reportedly available for €65million – which is the ‘maximum’ his representatives think he is worth – after Lazio previously asked for between €70-100m.

According to Italian outlet Corriere Dello Sport (via Sport Witness), Lazio director Igli Tare arrived in London this week to discuss transfers.

Tare spoke to Chelsea on Friday, with manager Maurizio Sarri keen on signing goalkeeper Kepa, left-back Emerson Palmieri and midfielder Ruben Loftus-Cheek.

The Blues used the opportunity to open discussions over a potential deal to sign Milinkovic-Savic.

If Lazio receive a ‘top offer’ they will allow the Serbian to leave and the Premier League side have no ‘certified’ their interest.
