Nottm Forest ‘open talks’ with Man Utd over loan signing of England international

Nottm Forest want Dean Henderson

According to reports, Nottm Forest have ‘opened talks’ with Manchester United over the signing of their goalkeeper Dean Henderson.

Nottm Forest are now back in the Premier League as they earned promotion via the Championship play-offs.

Brice Samba is currently their first-choice goalkeeper but he has rejected a new contract and he wants to leave this summer.

Transfer gossip: Man City to gazump Man United for De Jong after Pogba snub

The newly-promoted side are looking to sign Henderson as his replacement, according to Fabrizio Romano.

The goalkeeper played 26 times for Man Utd during the 2020/21 season but David De Gea finished the campaign as their number one.

Henderson did not make a single appearance in the Premier League in 2021/22 and he is keen to leave Man Utd this summer.

Romano has stated that ‘negotiations are ongoing’ between Nottm Forest and Man Utd over the transfer.

This would be a season-long loan deal and it will include an option to buy for £20m. This proposal is now being ‘considered’ by Henderson.

Elsewhere, Frenkie de Jong has insisted that he is already at “the biggest club in the world” but reports suggest he is now ‘resigned to leaving Barcelona’ for Manchester United this summer.

The Dutch playmaker has consistently stated his desire to stay at the Nou Camp amid great speculation over his future.

New United boss Erik ten Hag has reportedly made the midfielder his top priority and a move to Old Trafford appears to be edging closer, as long as the Red Devils don’t have to pay ‘silly money’.

And now Sport (via Manchester Evening News) claim De Jong will reluctantly leave the Catalans, but add that he is now excited to renew his ties with former Ajax boss Ten Hag.

De Jong was instrumental in the Netherlands’ 3-2 Nations League win over Wales in Rotterdam on Tuesday, and was asked after the game if he was flattered by the interest from United.

De Jong replied: “You’re always flattered when teams show interest in you as a player.

“I am at the biggest club in the world at the moment and I feel fine there, so no news.”
