June 13, 2022 – United Soccer League Championship (USL)Orange County SC News Release

Orange County SC dropped their third straight match losing to Las Vegas Lights FC, 3-0, at Cashman Field in Sin City on Saturday, June 11. It is just the third time this season that OCSC have been shutout.

OCSC earned the first chance of the match in the third minute from a free kick after Daniel Crisostomo fouled Milan Iloski on the near side. The former OCSC man was shown a yellow for the challenge, but nothing came from the free kick opportunity.

Later in the 13th minute, OCSC earned a free kick just outside the box and Alex Villanueva saw his effort deflect off the wall and wide. There were shouts for a handball that were ultimately turned away by the head referee Benjamin Meyer, and nothing came from the ensuing corner kick.

Las Vegas earned a throw-in at the 21st minute mark and Alvaro Quezada unleashed a shot from well outside the box that was destined to end in a goal kick, but took a nasty deflection off of Albi Skendi and left Patrick Rakovsky no chance. The Lights took a 1-0 lead and Skendi was charged with an own goal.

OCSC pushed on for an equalizer in the second half as Iloski was again taken down by Cristosomo outside the box, this time nothing came of the challenge. Kevin Partida was there to unleash a shot off the loose ball, but his effort went high and wide.

Iloski then found himself in the book after he was shown a yellow card for a foul in the 59th minute. Hassan Ndam was subbed on for Partida to make his OCSC debut in the 63rd minute.

Las Vegas struck for their second goal of the night on a Danny Trejo tap-in for a 2-0 lead in the 65th minute.

OCSC looked to strike back in the 74th minute, but captain Michael Orozco had his half volley deflected out of bounds.

Las Vegas scored their third of the night from the spot as Cal Jennings beat Rakovsky low and to the left in the 86th minute, after Trejo was taken down by Ndam in the box. The scoreline would hold and the Lights walked away 3-0 victors.

OCSC will look to bounce back as they continue their road trip next week, when they travel to the Bluegrass State to take on Louisville City FC on June 18. They will return home to Championship Soccer Stadium on June 25, when they host Loudoun United. Tickets can be purchased here.
