June 12, 2022 – Canadian Premier League (CPL)Atletico Ottawa News Release

Looking to keep the franchise’s longest winning streak going, Atlético Ottawa host York United under the lights at TD Place on Tuesday evening (KO 7 PM ET, live on OneSoccer). Back-to-back away wins were complimented by a dominant performance against the league leaders, and defending champions, last weekend with the work the Atleti squad has “been doing for the past three months is paying off,” according to Head Coach Carlos González.

York United last made the trip up to the capital city for the 2022 Canadian Championship Preliminary Round (a game the visitors won after a penalty shoot-out), whilst Atlético Ottawa played out a controversial 2-2 draw in York back in April.

Here’s everything you need to know ahead of Tuesday’s kick-off:

Atlético Ottawa currently sit in third place, level on points with Cavalry FC in second and one point adrift of Pacific FC (although Atleti and Cavalry both have a game in hand).

The last league clash between these two sides went down to the wire as York found a 94th-minute equalizer.

Since then, York (compounded by injuries to some key players) have only picked up four points from five games. In contrast, Ottawa picked up 10 points.

However, despite the lack of points York United still boast the most resolute defence in the league, conceding only seven goals in the Canadian Premier League so far this year.

As Atlético Ottawa continue to go from strength to strength, the progress being made isn’t only reflected on the leader board.

Four Atleti players have been named in the CPL Team of the Week following the victory over Pacific FC.

This was Ollie Bassett’s fifth appearance in the TotW this season (more than any other player in the league) as the British midfielder was also named Player of the Month for May.

Tuesday’s game at TD Place is dedicated to Father’s Day with ‘Ride for Dad Prostate Cancer’ present at Gate one.

There will be 20/30 motorcycles lined up with representatives from ‘Ride for Dad’ present.

There will also be feature pieces on defender Zachary Roy in an interview with his father and Assistant Coach Kwesi Loney.

Record head-to-head (all-time): 0W-5D-2L; 8 goals scored, 10 goals conceded
