Lyon are confident of reaching agreement to re-sign Arsenal striker Alexander Lacazette on a free transfer. 

The 31-year old is out of contract and has been weighing up a number of offers from clubs across Europe but is understood to be closing on a return to Lyon where he made 275 appearances and scored 129 goals prior to a £46.5million transfer to Arsenal. 

Mikel Arteta is looking to revamp his attack this summer and Manchester City striker Gabriel Jesus is his number one target.

Jesus is believed to be uncertain of his future at Manchester City, with the club having acquired Erling Haaland from Borussia Dortmund in addition to arrival of exciting Argentinian youngster Julian Alvarez from River Plate. 

His path to a regular starting spot has been further curtailed by those acquisitions and as such is considering his options. 

Arteta coached Jesus at Manchester City and was reported to have enjoyed a strong relationship with the player.
