BOSTON – The America East Conference on Thursday announced its list of Presidential Scholar-Athletes for the Spring 2022 semester.  A total of 121 student-athletes from the conference’s 10 member institutions satisfied the criteria for the honor, 10 of whom hailed from UAlbany.

To qualify as a Presidential Scholar-Athlete, an individual must be graduating and have accumulated a career undergraduate GPA of 3.75 or higher.

Seven Great Danes’ programs were represented among this semester’s class of America East Presidential Scholar-Athletes.  Women’s basketball had three roster members honored, Lucia Decortes, Ellen Hahne, and Morgan Haney.  Women’s lacrosse landed two, Hailey Carroll and Kadi Futia.  Finally, one each came from women’s soccer (Chloe Argenziano), men’s soccer (Zach Powell), women’s track & field/cross country (Noreen Guilfoyle), field hockey (Sheridan Messier), and volleyball (ShaLi Niu).

The Presidential Scholar-Athlete Award was approved by the America East Board of Presidents in June of 2013 and was implemented for the 2013-14 academic year.  In total, 681 elite student-athletes have been honored as part of the program.
