Sterling and Mount to swap clubs this summer as Liverpool hover?

We are slap-bang in silly season with Raheem Sterling linked with Chelsea and Mason Mount linked with just about everyone…

 

CHELSEA EYE STERLING
Now this is interesting. We know that Raheem Sterling is out of contract at Manchester City next summer and we know that he cannot be happy with being a bit-part player (he started both Champions League semi-finals and the final-day win over Aston Villa on the bench). And that is only likely to be exacerbated by the arrivals of Erling Haaland and Julian Alvarez.

The good news for Sterling is that there is a queue of suitors and among those suitors are a Premier League rival in Chelsea (according to The Sun), as well as European giants Bayern Munich, Barcelona and Real Madrid. After 131 goals in 339 games for City, it might be time to move on.

 

MAN UNITED EYE MOUNT
Now this really is interesting. There is generally a lack of transfer movement between the biggest Premier League clubs and here we are with two such rumours on the same day. This one also comes from The Sun, who claim that Chelsea might face a battle to keep hold of Mason Mount as Manchester United boss Erik Ten Hag really likes the Blues playmaker.

Now why he would join United is another question when he could have his pick of teams in the Champions League; Liverpool and Manchester City are said to have ‘discreet enquiries’ while Barcelona are also being linked. We know how this all ends of course: Chelsea make an improved contract offer and he stays there for life.

 

SIMPLY THE DEST
We know that there will be change in the Chelsea back-line this summer and Marcos Alonso is one player likely to leave, with the lure of Barcelona strong to the Spanish wing-back/striker. The Blues may be able to make a deal with the Spanish giants as, according to the Daily Mail, ‘Chelsea have reignited their interest in Barcelona’s versatile full-back Sergino Dest’.
