Paul Pogba has broken his silence on his Manchester United departure as he has thanked the club’s supporters for their “unconditional support”.

It was confirmed on Wednesday that the Frenchman is leaving Man Utd this summer. His contract expires in June.

The 29-year-old returned to United in 2016 as they signed him from Juventus. He cost the English side around £89m.

Pogba has regularly been criticised in recent years as he has only been able to impress in fits and starts for the Red Devils.

The midfielder looks set to re-join Juventus on a free transfer. He has thanked United’s fans for the support they have shown him:

“I feel privileged to have played for this club,” Pogba wrote on Instagram.

“Many beautiful moments and memories but most importantly an unconditional support from the fans. Thank you.”

Elsewhere, Frank McAvennie has said that he “can only see” Liverpool forward Mo Salah moving to Manchester United next summer after the latest reports.

James Pearce in The Athletic wrote today that Salah’s ‘preference would be to stay in the Premier League rather than head overseas’ if the Reds fail to agree a new deal with him.

The Egypt international’s contract at Liverpool runs out at the end of next season and there has been no progress since the last face-to-face talks in December.

Salah has confirmed that that he will definitely stay at Liverpool next season but former West Ham striker McAvennie reckons he could be on his way to Man Utd the following summer if the latest update in The Athletic is correct.

McAvennie told Football Insider: “Is it just about money? I think Man United are the only club who could do it if it is at the end of next season.
