Man Utd and Newcastle United have reportedly joined Man City ‘in the race’ to sign Leicester City youngster Ben Nelson this summer.

The centre-back has progressed through the ranks at Leicester City. He won their Academy Player of the Season award in 2020/21.

The 18-year-old was included in several matchday squads for the first team in the Premier League and Europa League in 2021/22.

Nelson is yet to make his senior debut for Leicester but he played 18 times in Premier League 2 last term.

Football Insider are reporting that Man Utd, Newcastle and Man City are all ‘keeping tabs’ on the youngster.

It is claimed that the three clubs are ‘sending scouts to watch Nelson in action for England Under-18s this week’.

The player is described as a ‘teenage sensation’ and Leicester are ‘braced for offers’ this summer.

Elsewhere, Manchester United midfielder James Garner is reportedly a transfer target for Leicester City.

The 21-year-old made 49 appearances in all competitions for Nottm Forest in 2021/22 and was part of Steve Cooper’s side for the play-off final at Wembley on Sunday.

Garner has been in impressive form, especially since the arrival of Cooper and has been one of the major reasons for their dramatic turnaround from bottom of the league, to earning promotion to the Premier League.

Forest could look to bring the midfielder back next season, be it permanently or on another loan deal.

That could depend on what incoming united manager Erik Ten Hag thinks of Garner, who will likely be given the chance to impress in pre-season.

However, if Ten Hag makes the decision that Garner can depart Old Trafford, another Premier League side are reportedly keen on making a move for him.
