Barca Target Lewandowski Declares 'My Story with Bayern is Over'

Robert Lewandowski is set to be the subject of major off-season transfer activity after declaring his time with Bayern Munich is over.

The 33-year-old Polish striker, who top scored in this season’s Bundesliga with 35 goals, had been linked with a move away from the German champions.

Lewandowski’s current contract expires in 2023 and Barcelona have made no secret of their admiration for him.

“One thing is certain today – my story with Bayern is over,” Lewandowski told reporters on Monday.

“After everything that has happened in recent months, I cannot imagine further good cooperation.

“I realise a transfer will be the best solution for both sides.”

Bayern sports director Hasan Salihamidzic said earlier in the month that the two parties would likely part ways after the Pole informed he wanted to leave.

Barcelona have already reportedly made a bid for Lewandowski worth 30million euros although Bayern are yet to respond.

Bayern have been linked with Liverpool forward Sadio Mane as a replacement.

Lewandowski is the second highest scoring player in Bundesliga history, with 312 goals in 384 league games.

The 2021 Ballon d’Or Striker of the Year, who is a 10-time Bundesliga champion, netted 50 goals in 46 appearances for Bayern in all competitions this term.
