Five Chicago Fire FC and Chicago Fire Academy Players Called up to U.S. Men's Youth National Team Duty

May 29, 2022 – Major League Soccer (MLS) – Chicago Fire FC News Release

CHICAGO – Chicago Fire FC will join the rest of Major League Soccer in pausing for the two-week international FIFA break which will feature Concacaf Nations League matches, UEFA Nations League matches and international friendlies across the globe.

Chicago’s home stadium, Soldier Field, will host an international friendly between Mexico and Ecuador at 6:30 p.m. CT on Sunday, June 5. The Fire will return to the lakefront to host D.C. United on Saturday, June 18. The match against D.C. United will kick off at 7:00 p.m. CT and will be broadcast nationally on UniMás, TUDN and Twitter (with English-language audio). It will also be transmitted locally in Spanish on Univision Radio.

The Fire head into the break after a three-game road stretch, most recently facing Toronto at BMO Field on Saturday. Chicago’s Kacper Przybyłko and Carlos Terán each scored for the Fire. However, Toronto would respond with two goals in seven minutes courtesy of Spanish midfielder Alejandro Pozuelo. The Designated Player converted a controversial penalty kick in the 71st minute, before burying a shot from just outside the 18-yard box to give the hosts a 3-2 lead in the 78th minute.
