FOXBOROUGH, Mass. – The New England Revolution (4-5-3; 15 pts.) will host the Philadelphia Union (6-1-6; 24 pts.) on Saturday night at Gillette Stadium. The 7:30 p.m. ET match airs locally on WSBK-TV38, myRITV (Rhode Island), and Cozi TV (Western Mass.) Saturday’s contest also airs on the radio via 98.5 The Sports Hub and 1260 AM Nossa Radio in Portuguese.
Saturday’s contest matches New England’s high-powered offense, which owns the sixth-most goals in MLS, against a Philadelphia defense that has conceded a league-low nine goals through 13 matches in 2022. The Revolution have scored at two or more goals in seven consecutive league games, though the Union have registered back-to-back clean sheets, including last weekend’s 2-0 road win at Portland. Goalkeeper Andre Blake has backstopped Philadelphia to six clean sheets this season, one off the league pace. New England has won the last two meetings with Philadelphia, going 2-0-1 in 2021, but trail the home series against Philadelphia with a 4-6-4 mark at Gillette Stadium.
New England will look to extend its four-match unbeaten streak in MLS play, following a 3-2 triumph over FC Cincinnati on the road last weekend. Defender Brandon Bye lifted the attack with a three-assist outing, providing helpers on all three highlight-reel goals to Sebastian Lletget, Adam Buksa, and Tommy McNamara. Bye and McNamara both earned MLSsoccer.com Team of the Week honors for their performances in New England’s first road victory of the season. Last weekend’s match also saw the return of forward Gustavo Bou, who had been out since March with a leg injury, and the MLS debut of 20-year-old Colombian midfielder Dylan Borrero. Bou and Borrero also contributed shifts off the bench in Wednesday’s U.S. Open Cup match at NYCFC.
