Gerrard ‘getting excited’ for Champions League final

Aston Villa manager Steven Gerrard has made a prediction for this weekend’s Champions League final between Liverpool and Real Madrid.

Gerrard has travelled to Paris to watch the final of the Champions League. The game takes place at the Stade de France on Saturday.

The Villa boss was part of the Liverpool side that lifted the Champions League at the end of the 2004/05 season.

The Reds are out to win the trophy for the seventh time in their history this weekend.

Jurgen Klopp’s side face Real Madrid in the final of this year’s competition. The Spanish side beat Liverpool in the final in 2018.

Gerrard has sent out a message to Klopp and his players in the lead up to Saturday’s final. He thinks Liverpool will win 2-0:

“You can feel the atmosphere building. I’d like to wish everyone at Liverpool the best of luck, and I hope they get the outcome that everyone wants,” Gerrard said (via Twitter).

“I’m getting excited for the game and the fans are building up nicely outside the stadium.

“Hopefully it’ll be a fantastic game and I predict a 2-0 Liverpool win.”

Elsewhere, Klopp insisted on Friday that he has no concerns about Sadio Mane despite reports linking him to Bayern Munich.

Various reports have surfaced this week as Mane said he would reveal his future after the Champions League final.

Liverpool face Real Madrid in the final in Paris on Saturday evening and there have been worries that rumours on his future could affect the Senegalese forward.

However, speaking to the media ahead of the final, Klopp insisted he has no concerns.

“Sadio is in the shape of his life – he’s in brilliant shape, a joy to watch him in training and in the game.

“Football has asked him a lot this year, a long season with a lot of games but one of the most successful for him and for us.
