FC Tucson Rally Twice to Cut Down Chattanooga

May 26, 2022 – United Soccer League One (USL1) – FC Tucson News Release

With the postponement of last Friday’s game at home, FC Tucson looks to kick things off on a high note when it opens a two-game away run in Georgia against South Georgia Tormenta FC.

Fans back home in Tucson can watch the match at Brother John’s Beer, Bourbon & BBQ, kickoff is set for 4:30 p.m.

The last time the two sides met, Tormenta took all three points at Kino North Stadium with two second-half goals. Tormenta forward Adrian Billhardt grabbed his first of the season in the 61st minute with a low shot from outside the box.

Capitalizing on a 10-man FC Tucson side, Tormenta scored its second off a free kick that found the head of midfielder Barry Sharifi in the 84th minute.

“It’s an exciting opportunity for us to play a team that we didn’t get the result that we wanted,” said FC Tucson Head Coach Jon Pearlman. “We have experience and know what it’s going to take.”

Tormenta sits fourth in the league with 11 points (3-2-2). The club’s three wins have all been on the road, with only two points secured at ERK Russell Park. Tormenta is coming off a 4-0 loss to Central Valley Fuego on May 21.

FC Tucson is 1-4-1 (four points) after back-to-back losses in which it scored early and failed to convert a second goal to secure all three points. But the club does not falter on the road, nabbing three points from Chattanooga Red Wolves. The club also kept the pressure on league leaders Charlotte Independence in the final 15 minutes with five shots coming from forward Gio Calixtro.
