Arsenal still ‘most likely’ destination as Jesus speaks out about his Man City future

Gabriel Jesus says he is “very happy” at Manchester City but will “decide” his future on holiday amid interest from Arsenal.

With the Gunners set to lose Eddie Nketiah and Alexandre Lacazette on free transfers in the summer, Mikel Arteta is reportedly looking to bring in two strikers this summer.

Numerous names, including Napoli striker Victor Osimhen, have been linked with Arsenal but reliable journalists such as David Ornstein have confirmed the north London club’s interest in Man City forward Jesus.

The Gunners’ hopes of landing a top striker took a blow over the weekend, though, as they failed to qualify for next season’s Champions League.

One report last week insisted that Arsenal still have a chance of landing Jesus without Champions League football, while another said they had baulked at the Brazilian’s £55m valuation.

And Jesus opened the door to the possibility of staying at Man City with the 25-year-old insisting that he is “very happy” at the club despite speculation over his future.

“About my future, it’s still uncertain,” Jesus told ESPN Brazil. “I have a contract with City and I have already expressed my desire to the City people and to my agent. I have in my head very clear what I want.

“Today, I want to celebrate a lot with City. It’s obvious that I’m very happy here. Tomorrow, if everything goes well for me, my wife and our family, Helena [his daughter] will come to the world.

“So, I have to take advantage of this moment. Then, think about the team, smile at the team again. And, on vacation, I decide about my future.”

Meanwhile, Brazilian publication Globo claim that a move to Arsenal is still the ‘most likely’ scenario this summer with staying in the Premier League a priority for the Brazil international.

The report adds that Jesus is ‘used to the league’ and that his representatives have also ‘sounded out’…
