LAFC Hosts Austin FC on Wednesday, May 18, at Banc of California Stadium

The Los Angeles Football Club (LAFC) looks to remain unbeaten at home in 2022 as they host Austin FC at Banc of California Stadium on Wednesday, May 18 at 7:30 p.m. PT. (TV: KCOP 13 and Estrella TV 62; Radio: 710 AM ESPN and KFWB 980 AM La Mera Mera.)

LAFC is 7-2-2 (23 points) this season after suffering their second loss of the season against Colorado 2-0 on May 14 at Dick’s Sporting Goods Park.

Wednesday’s contest will feature Austin’s second ever visit to Banc of California Stadium. LAFC enters the match up as the league leader with a 7-2-2 record (23 Points) and Austin FC trails the Black & Gold in 3rd place overall with a 6-3-2 record (20 points).

NEWS & NOTES:

LAFC return home to face Austin FC for the first time this season. LAFC remains undefeated at home this season and has a 4-0-2 home record (7-2-2 overall).

LAFC has claimed 14 of a possible 18 points at home this season.

The Black & Gold faced off three times vs. Austin FC in 2021, claiming all nine points.

A goal or assist by Carlos Vela on Wednesday will give him 100 career combined goals + assists in 97 MLS regular season games. He will be the third fastest player in MLS history to record 100 goals and assists.

LAFC’s 7-2-2 start (23 points) this season equals the Club’s record-breaking start to the 2019 Supporter’s Shield Season. This is the second best start in LAFC’s five-year history.

Goalkeeper John McCarthy made his first MLS start for LAFC vs. Colorado. It was his first MLS start since Nov. 7, 2021 when he had a shutout for Inter Miami in a 1-0 win over New England.

LAFC was shutout for the first time in 2022 and it was the first time since Aug. 15, 2021 that the Black & Gold failed to score a goal. Last time it happened was in a 1-0 loss in Atlanta.
