EPL: Klopp Admits Liverpool Title 'Unlikely But Possible'

Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp still believes that his side clinching the Premier League title is “unlikely” after ensuring it’ll go down to the final day after winning 2-1 at Southampton on Tuesday.

The Reds closed the gap back to one point with the come-from-behind victory over the Saints ahead of the final day of the season on Sunday.

Leaders Manchester City host 14th-placed Aston Villa on Sunday, while Liverpool entertain eighth-placed Wolverhampton.

“Of course it is unlikely because City play at home against Aston Villa, who play only on Thursday,” Klopp told BBC Sport.

“It will be tough against Burnley, they fight for survival. But it is football.

“I think the time when City became champion (in 2019) it was because of 11 millimetres.

“If someone wants us to be champion then we have to win first and Aston Villa need to get a point at City.

“It is possible, not likely but possible. That is enough.”

Klopp wouldnt be drawn on a final day twist either, deflecting the question to discuss Liverpool’s stunning form in the second half of the season, having not lost since December 29.

“Ive no idea what happens on Sunday, to be honest,” he said.

“It was game 18 tonight, right, from the second part of the season? We won 15, drew three.

“Against City we know we were lucky at City, that was not the best, not a good game.”
